Vajirarama forest solitude, which is situated in hill country in Sri Lanka is surrounded by natural beauty.
Vajirarama Forest Solitude was founded in year 1986 by the most venerable Ampitiye Rahula Thero who is one of the greatest senior leading monks in the country.
When the land was found by Ven Ampitiye Rahula Thero, it was owned by the Peradeniya University. At that time as the president of Sri Lanka, J.R Jayawardhena sponsored to hand over the land to Ven Ampitiye Rahula Thero.
In the begining there was only one wooden small room for the nayaka Thero. But within a short period nayaka Thero could establish several other buildings with the help of local/foreign laymen who gathered around the nayaka Thero.
During more than 3 decades,Vajirarama has provided a remarkable service on behalf of saving and spreading our greatest teacher Lord Bhuddha’s word through out the world.
